The Gift of Adaptability to See Us Through Our Darkness
I am starting up my journey offerings for the collective again, and was drawn to do so during October’s full moon. I felt the energy was rather potent, so I asked my guides to direct me for those who are called to read this.
The timing still didn’t feel right in terms of posting it, as I felt I had to sit with what had been offered for some time longer. I trust and honour that this message is being delivered in divine timing, even though it is well past the full moon.
I invite you all to trust that whatever resonates, or perhaps even evokes any sort of strong emotion in you, is exactly what you need to be hearing. Sit with it and let it percolate.
Going forward, these journeys will be offered monthly within the range of the full moon’s energy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I begin my journey in the lower world, where I am greeted by a raccoon. The raccoon spirit animal represents adaptability and curiosity, but their most prominent feature is their mask, which gives them a mysterious air of secrecy but also conveys transformation through disguisei.
This sets an interesting tone, as I could feel myself being led to an enigmatic and hidden spot. I allowed myself to take on this curious approach in light of the guide who was being the way-shower.
I feel this shift in perspective is what we are being invited to take. Most of us approach situations that we are not comfortable or familiar with in a dismissive manner, sometimes even with outright rejection. This fear is being highlighted at this time, so it can be looked at with adaptability and curiosity.
What aspects of your life have been triggering you lately, that you find yourself resoundingly pushing away?
Could it be that it’s not the experience itself, but the fear that comes with it that you are rejecting?
Is there a gentler way to approach these triggers with care and a curious nature once the illusion of fear has been quieted?
This approach allows us to shape shift during different situations in order to tackle whatever obstacles may come our way.
What I mean by this is to bring out the qualities of our unique personalities that can handle the situation that is coming up, without dismissing these aspects of ourselves as underdeveloped.
If anything, this gives rise to opportunities for us to evolve and expand on new skills, instead of shrinking and dismissing obstacles with an energy of fear. This is where adaptability and playful curiosity can be our friend and lead us down new paths and help us hone in on different skills.
Our shape-shifting abilities are further reinforced by the end of the month. The veils become thinner and aspects of our personalities and alter egos surface. Halloween gives rise to this as we don ourselves in masks and hide ourselves on the surface, yet simultaneously expose those aspects of ourselves that we don’t bring out daily. The guise of costumes give way to much more than we really care to think, as the raccoon offers with its medicine.
This wonderful creature leads me to a cave which is entirely made up of Chalcopyrite, a crystal which supports flexibility during change and invites a deeper understanding of situations that are unexpectedii.
This support is needed as we adapt to what is showing up for ourselves.
Chalcopyrite has a grounding energy which helps us get over emotional blockages and detoxifies us even on an energetic level and transforms predictability into excitementiii.
Bringing in the energy of this crystal may be the support that is needed while moving through the difficult phases of this period, grounding us during the process.
As I continue on my journey, I am awestruck by the beautiful crystalline energy surrounding me, but before I can relax into it, a rat shows up.
Rat medicine signifies success, and just like the raccoon, speaks of adaptability against all oddsiv. It brings the message of survival and drive towards achieving goalsv.
What are the lessons we could be taking from the rat?
Have we perhaps been stuck in our ways and lost our ability to be flexible?
Could rigid beliefs or patterns be holding us back energetically and keeping us from succeeding?
I feel that most of us are being called to move through the inner depths of our darkness and rejected aspects of ourselves, just like the rat who hides in the cracks and crevices of society. The rat shakes it off, however, and sneaks its way through to success, as we will too if we allow the medicine of this spirit animal in.
This brings me to believe that parts of ourselves we have pushed aside and deemed unworthy are calling for love and attention in order for us to attain the success we are yearning for.
As mother nature moves inward, so shall we, as we are being invited to mimic her wisdom and find peace within darkness.
I follow this rat through a crack in the ceiling of the cave. As we travel through this crevice, I find myself transforming once again, this time into a massive beetle, which represents resurrection and metamorphosisvi.
This metamorphosis we’re collectively experiencing is a necessary step in our growth. Just like the butterfly, we are being guided to cocoon ourselves in darkness before we can enter the light fully transformed. We are being invited to embrace the dark aspects of ourselves; the fear, and befriend it so that we can integrate that fragment of ourselves, because we know deep down that the only way out is through.
The rat and I start making our way through what has now turned into a tunnel, when all of a sudden we tap into a water source which floods us. This flooding feels synonymous to the emotions that are waiting to flood out once we allow everything that surfaces to wash over us. Once we allow it to cleanse us and remove the blocks, then we will be able to see the gifts that are being offered much more clearly.
We continue on through the tunnel and finally reach ‘the light.’
I find myself transforming yet again, this time into a wild goose. I start flapping my wings and find myself flying over top of a house and land on the chimney, where there is a nest waiting for me to find comfort in.
The goose, which signifies the life quest and travels to extraordinary places,vii offers us the gift we receive when we don’t give up during the dark phases of our journey. It points to making it to places beyond the ordinary if we stay on track. This is our reward after all of our hard work.
I start feeling the freedom and cool breeze on me. It’s a beautiful cool day, like the stirrings of Fall is upon us.
I start looking around and see people below me and realize that they don’t know that I am watching them. I witness with non-attachment.
I feel that we are connected, as we are all part of this reality that we choose to witness collectively, yet I remain calm and detached.
When we can withstand the storm and the loneliness that can sometimes accompany inner work, by not attaching ourselves to the outcomes or to the emotions that wash over us, but by just allowing them to be, we can step into witness mode.
Our lessons can play out in front of us like a movie, which will bring up what needs to be released. The invitation is to witness and not get sucked into the vortex of drama and lower vibrations.
A mouse makes its way up the chimney and joins me in my nest.
The mouse signifies an orientation to detail but can easily get lost within it because it is not capable of seeing the bigger picture.viii Its gift is seeing well in the dark,ix similar to the cat, which is what I find myself shifting into.
The mouse hops on top of me, asking me to guide it, so I lead the way. The support we need sometimes, even when we make it through the darkness is being outlined in this message.
The mouse which needed the support of the goose who can witness with non-attachment, in turn shares its gift of guiding the goose through the darkness, thus transforming it into a cat. The cat in turn offers the gifts of “magic and independence”.x
Through their mutual support they have transformed their energy.
The mouse and I climb down the roof to the backyard of the house, and are faced with a barren landscape.
I start rubbing against the dead plants and barren trees, in the way a cat does, and everything I come into contact with in the garden starts transforming and I know this is because my internal world has bloomed and the magic is extending externally as well.
This transformed energy starts bringing in a bunch of different animals which join us as a community.
I feel the message that even though we are in the season of introspection and inward journeying, that reaching out to community and creating outward connection will deepen our connection with self, as it is a fluid journey of growth that oscillates between inward and outward connection and deepens both simultaneously.
A hands-on involvement begins and we awaken the garden, even though it’s Fall. Our internal landscape, which has blossomed, has turned it into Summer and as we flourish so do our surroundings and vice versa.
I shape shift again, one final time, back into myself, as I happily stroll through the garden. I stumble upon two palm trees. I take a break and lean against them and take in the warmth of the sun. Calmness and tranquility washes over me along with a sense of accomplishment.
I feel this journey brought with it the messages that we will make it through the dark processes that we are called to experience during this period and will regain balance once we have flourished within, affecting that outside of us and being affected in return by the beauty we spread. We will move through the difficulties and can do so best when we balance introspection with community.
Allowing ourselves to feel our emotions that rise up as we release what is ready to leave with non-attachment to outcomes is key. Holding space for those around us and extending compassion will open an energetic fluidity between us and others and deepen our connection with self.
All of our experiences are unique and personal and no two stories are the same or call for the same needs, but the messages that resonate will hopefully be a guiding post for those who needed to hear it.
This period may call for some dark moments for some of us, but remember, we are all supported and the roadblocks are part of the journey that will bring us to our internal Summer.
It is all a process in our integration story.
